Discombobulate: Barangay Sangandaan

August 2, 2006- I had to get a CTC aka sedula that afternoon and in doing so I needed to walk to our nearby barangay(haven't done this for a long time). This photo was taken along the covered walk beside the Mathay HS and it's nice to appreciate that instead of seeing "vandalism" in our neighborhood, here's a totally different picture. I did have my CTC that day but only after noticing several realities namely:
  • the barangay secretary issued the CTC after asking err forcing me to buy raffle tickets which she had at hand for the building of a church (note that I was getting a CTC to apply for a part-time job) and so I politely told her that if I did get to find work again I'll just visit the barangay
  • the sidewalk below which is just a few steps from the barangay hall is not for pedestrians but for the goods being sold

  • the "moon-like" road just a block away from the barangay hall...AGAIN and to think that the barangay officials pass this way on a regular basis because of their "recycling" project of getting plastic bottles, old newspapers and cartons, clothes and whatever they can ask from the residents (I pity our garbage collectors who now have competition).

Which led me to be discombobulated in the slogan "Your taxes are working for you"

Mascot

Received this as text message: Ngumingiti din kaya yung taong nasa loob ng mascot kapag may batang nagpapapicture kasama siya, ano sa tingin niyo?

Highly recommended:
Book: Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
Movies: My Super Ex-Girlfriend, V for Vendetta
TV: High School Musical on Disney, Desperate Housewives

Favor

After a long absence from bloggin I have finally returned.

Ever wondered how difficult life would be if there are no favors given to us freely? As simple as have someone:

  • do the laundry for you
  • help you separate the laundry (sa puti, sa pula, sa itim)
  • fax, print an important letter for you
  • pay the bills online instead of you going to the bank
  • massage your aching back and feet after a long day
  • replace the tires, check the oil and brakes of your car
  • ensure you have hot water for your bath
  • ensure you have emergency money in your wallet
  • ensure you have a full tank before the start of the week

And as complicated as asking someone to:

  • help you before the check you issued becomes a problem because of insufficient funds
  • follow-up with HR regarding your last pay (more than 3 months in process)
  • drive your son to school because you're sick and you're supposed to do it
  • lend money since someone will be admitted to the hospital and she's not sure if her credit card will be accepted as payment
  • and the list goes on and on...

It takes humility and kindness to help someone in need/in distress on top of all the overdue deadlines, the long "to-do" list they have. But it is surely appreciated and treasured by the recipient and reconfirms that God is good all the time. And to all of you who makes my life so much easier (you know who you are) many thanks and I love you deeply.

Life is not that difficult to handle if you have people giving you a hand.

Punchinello & Glockenspiel

Who do you choose Punchinello Funny fellow, Who do you choose Punchinello Funny you

This song keeps playing in my head, thanks to my son who learned it in school. Now I'm suffering from LSS- Last Song Syndrome...

Unlike our puppy who is not bothered amidst the noise around him.

In other matters, do you know or have you ever heard of the term "Glockenspiel"? Well, my son shared this with me before taking his afternoon siesta and he goes on saying that he learned this term in his UP Creative music class. So again I had to satisfy my curiosity and lookup the term (hoping it was not mispronounced or that I understood it correctly). Indeed there is such a term, all the while I thought my son was pulling another trick on me.
Thanks to the ever reliable site: about.com, it provided me with info that I just wanted to share with you. another discovery for the day:
glockenspiel- a percussion instrument with a series of metal barstuned to the chromatic scale and played with two light hammers.
German: Glocken - bell, spiel - metal *** the xylophone's bars are wooden, while the glockenspiel's are metal thus making it a metallophone. Just so you know, this was asked by my 5-year old son, and you might be encountering similar situations so it's fun to learn together.
